Karen E. Adams, wife and mother, passed away on Tuesday, March 12th at her home in Penrose, Colorado with her family by her side. Karen had a long, brave fight with cancer, and fought until the end. Karen was a very beloved wife, mother and teacher of many children in the Colorado Springs area. Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband and daughter. Karen was born in Saint Louis, Missouri to Irv and Sophie Anderson who are both deceased. A brother Kenny Anderson, also preceded her in death. Karen had been an elementary teacher for District 11 in Colorado Springs since receiving her teacher certification. She was honored that Steele Elementary was the last school she was able to practice her beloved profession before she passed away. Karen had lived in Colorado Springs for 35 years and in Penrose, Colorado for the last 10 years. Karen graduated from high school in Saint Louis, and after moving to Colorado Springs, completed her Bachelors and Masters Degree at the University of Colorado Springs, in Colorado Springs. Karen's education continued until her death. Before she passed, Karen and her family enjoyed trips to Baja, Alaska and the western United States. Besides her family and teaching, Karen loved travel and it was her greatest interest. She was a wonderful wife, wonderful mother and wonderful teacher. She was able to touch many lives, and that will never be forgotten. At Karen's request there were no funeral services. Burial was at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City, Colorado. Arrangements handled through Holt Family Funeral Home.
