Graduated at the University of Wisconsin. Studied oil painting at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The first newspaper in Evansville, Wisconsin was entitled "Badger". The publication was established in 1894 by native sisters, Eleanor and Marilla Andrews and was ran by all female employees. The first paper, Vol. 1, no. 1 was published on Oct. 13, 1894 and the last, Vol. 12, no. 14 on Apr. 7, 1906.
Postmistress of Evansville. "Miss Andrews was born on the 16th of May 1856 and came to Evansville in 1868, where she was educated; she went East to attend art school for two years, bought some property in Dakota which she still owns, acted as clerk in the Post Office during the time that Chas. Pullen was Postmaster 1890, when Mr. Pullen resigned Miss Andrews continued in the office under two successors and from her former public career there is no doubt that her appointment will be a subject of rejoicing and general content." 1898 city directory Evansville [courtesy of Ruth Ann Montgomery]

Prominent Local Woman Succumbs Here Monday Following Ten Day's Serious Illness
Miss Eleanora Andrews, 83, former local postmaster and prominent Evansville club woman, died at 1 a.m. Monday in her home on West Church street following a serious illness of ten days. She had been in failing health for the past several months.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. William Dawson, archdeacon of the Milwaukee diocese of the Episcopal church, officiating. Burial was made in Maple Hill cemetery with E.H. Libby, Bert Hungerford, George Magee, Delbert Jones, Lyell Richardson, and Everett Combs as pallbearers.

Miss Andrews, daughter of the late John and Sarah Wright Andrews, pioneer Evansville settlers, was born in a log cabin at Argyle near the Pecatonica river May 16, 1855 ....
