Aida Iolanda Truppi Andrews
Aida Iolanda Truppi Andrews, 94, of Brindisi Italy, went home to be with the Lord on November 2, 2016 in Pensacola, Florida. Grave site services were held for a small family gathering at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola on Friday November 4, 2016.
Aida was born July 1922, in southern Italy, as one of five children to Alessandro Truppi and Marta Cafiere Truppi. Following the end of WWII, at the age of 25, Aida married a 23 year old US soldier, Edd L Andrews of Topeka, Kansas. Edd met and fell in love with Aida, while serving as best man to a friend; Aida was the bridesmaid. His devotion and determination won the approval of the family, even though they knew she would leave for the United States. This unlikely relationship between two kids from different countries speaking different languages kindled during trying times in post-war Italy and would grow stronger over the years. Their romance would take them across oceans, through multiple countries, and several US states. After retirement, Edd and Aida would be a nearly inseparable couple. They built their dream house, and then sold it to take an extended stay in Italy and reconnect with family. Upon return from Europe, they purchased an RV and spent time touring the country, visiting the many friends they made over the years.
Her marriage to Edd would last 64 years and be blessed by their three children: Thomas Andrews (Deborah), Marry Flack (Steven), Marta Andrews, six grandchildren: Kelly and Austin Flack, Daniella Fain, Jamie Baudoin, Kimberly Duplantis, Lindsey Domangue, and six great-grandchildren: Meghan, Loren, Andrea, Kage, Tripp, and Selest
Aida was a loving and generous lady, making a host of lifelong friends. To say she had a full life is an understatement; she traveled on ocean liners, flew in military transport planes, set up house in Morocco, dined and danced with prominent military officers, lived on officers row in Rota, Spain, learned fluent English, held several jobs in the US, and raised three successful children. Aida was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and prayed often for God’s blessing and protection for her family. God has now welcomed her home where she will reunite with those preceding her. Aida was laid to rest alongside Edd at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Aida is preceded in death by her loving husband, three sisters, and brother.
