Albert M. Andrews, age 81, of Mellen, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Mellen Manor Nursing Home. He was born July 17, 1931 in Superior, the son of Albert and Mayme (Sajec) Andrews.

Al served and boxed for U.S. Army until 1952. Al married Jean Dybedal on January 28, 1954 in Superior at the Holy Assumption Rectory. Al started boxing at the age of 7. He was a Golden Gloves welter weight boxer until his retirement in 1959. He was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in September of 1984. Al enjoyed playing cribbage, going fishing and playing the accordion.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Mark) Anderson of Mason; granddaughter, Mayme Pratz of Mason; grandson, John (Amy) Campbell of Kaukauna; 5 great-grandchildren, Amber, Kristen, Matthew, Dustin and Johnny; 5 brothers, Raymond, Jim, Louis, Carl and Raleigh; a sister-in-law, Judith Dybedal of Mason; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean in 2011; parents; and brothers, Victor and Jackie.

A memorial service will be held at the Moland Lutheran Church in Mason at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, January 5, 2013 with Pastor Julie Burmeister officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow the service at the church.

Inurnment and military services will be held in the Moland Cemetery in the spring.
