Eduardo Vladimer Andreyev, 59, of Elkton, VA died peacefully in the care of his three daughters on April 9, 2007 after a short illness. Born on January 3, 1948 in the town of Pfaffenhoefen, Germany to Vera and the late Vladimer Andrew, Ed was raised in the Harrisonburg, VA area. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Nina Andreyev and Jeffrey Gardner, Lara and Daniel Shockey, and Alaina and Scott DeCesare; as well as his granddaughter, Carys Andreyev Gardner. He is also survived by his former wife, Suzanne Lowe Andreyev; his two sisters, Lidia White and Mari McDaniel; two nieces and a nephew. Ed graduated in 1969 from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, with a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed by Dunham-Bush, the Frick Company, Carrier and, most recently, by Hamilton-Standard in Connecticut. While employed by Hamilton, he was part of an international engineering exchange program and worked for two years at MBB in Munich, Germany. His primary duty there was to use his native Russian language ability and technical skills to help the Germans connect to the Russian space program. He was a longtime member of the Army National Guard in Virginia as well as the Reserves in Connecticut and Germany, and spent a total of 30 years in local units. He retired from the Army Reserves with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Private funeral services are being held by the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, 7600 Port Republic Road, Port Republic, VA 24471 in gratitude for their assistance in relocating his family to the United States following World War II.
