He was born in Ashburn, Ga., on September 25, 1923 to the late Willie and Annie Mae Aplin. He attended public schools in Ashburn, Ga. He was called to duty in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1944. Upon discharge in 1946, he made his home with his aunt Matilda Taylor and family in Ypsilanti, Mich. On February 21, 1948, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Gwendlyn Walls. God blessed this union with two sons. He was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather. He worked and retired from Ypsilanti public schools. He moved to Palatka in 1986. He accepted Christ in his life in November 1997. He returned to Michigan in July 1998 and resided in Inkster, Mich. with his son, Dr. William Aplin Sr. until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sons, Rev. Dr. William J. (Mary) Aplin of Inkster, Claude Walls (Rudy) Aplin of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Willie James, Artis (Joyce) of Palatka, Henry (Bernice) Aplin of Ashburn, Ga., Menos (June), Leolia (Chloe) of Miami, Billy (Vickie) of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Shirley Garrison of Palatka.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 12 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, Mich.
