Mrs Christian Applegren, aged 90, died at her home, 569 Clark street, Galesburg, last Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock after a brief illness of only eight days. Mrs Applegren
suffered a stroke of paralysis June 15th. She had been in rather poor health about
three weeks prior to that time.-Mrs Applegren was one of the first settlers in
Bishop Hill Colony. She was born in Ore, larlane, Sweden, August 29th, 1835.,
She came to the United States, going directly to Bishop Hill. The couple moved to
near Wataga where they resided for a period of 59 years. Following Mr. Applegrens
death January, 1921. Mrs Applegren came to Galesburg to reside, making her home
with her daughter, Mrs. R. Seastedt. Surviving Mrs Applegren are her son, Frank Applegren, Wataga, Mrs Rudolph Seastedt, Galesburg, four grandchildren, Mrs. O.J. Erickson, Mrs H.W. Palmer, Reuben and Otto Seastedt, all of Galesburg and one great grand child, Marvin Seastedt. A brother, Andrew Danielson, resides at Clay Center,
Kansas. She was a member of the Immanuel Methodist church, of Galesburg.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 o'clock at the Kimber & West mortuary with
Rev. Westerdahl of the Immanuel Methodist church is in charge. Interment is in
Hope Cemetery. The singers were Delia Crouch and Mamie Johnson. Harry Simpson
was at the organ. Pall bearers we're O.J. Erickson, H.W.Palmer, Reuben Seastedt, and Otto Seastedt.
