Fredericksburg, Virginia - Anne "Petey" Armistead Wev passed away in the comfort of her home in Fredericksburg, VA on January 16, 2014, surrounded by friends and family. Born in Memphis, Tenn., she graduated from Mt. Vernon Junior College. Petey met her forever dancing partner, Bosquet ("Biscuit") N. Wev, Jr., while he was a midshipman at the Naval Academy and they married on October 20, 1952 after his graduation. She was the consummate Navy wife, willingly moving up and down the east coast while Biscuit deployed in submarines. Even while busy raising her four children in Arlington, VA, she volunteered at Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria, VA. She and Biscuit eventually retired to Edgewater, Md., where they enjoyed a life of boating and listening to jazz. After transferring to St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Annapolis, she and Biscuit became active there. In 2013, the Wevs moved to Fredericksburg, VA to be closer to their children, where they frequently watched Washington Redskins and Navy football together. Petey is preceded in death by an infant son, Bosquet N. Wev, III, her sister, Eugenia A. Blanchard and her parents Maude C. and Robert A. Armistead. She is survived by her husband Biscuit, children Anne W. Boyles (husband-Jim), Elizabeth W. Roane (husband-Pat), Diane W. Chesebrough (husband-Dave) and Alexander N. Wev (wife-Chellie). There are eight grandchildren (most of which who called her "Gampi" and one of which called her "Binky") and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Wev was a woman of quiet faith who had a quick wit. We will miss her very much. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Annapolis, Md. and inurnment will be at the USNA Columbarium at 2 p.m. Her family would like to thank the staff of The Crossings at Falls Run in Fredericksburg, VA, the Comfort Keepers of Fredericksburg and Hospice plus the wonderful doctors and nurses at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Covenant Funeral Service (Published in The Commercial Appeal on Jan. 19, 2014)
