Obituary for Lucille Arnall Colvin
Mrs. Lucy Arnall Colvin, 94, of Newnan, Georgia died Sunday, July 5, 2020. She was born August 21,1925 in Newnan to the late Frank Marion Arnall and Ruth Moncrief Arnall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Noble Colvin, a sister, Katie A. Hollis, and a brother, Maurice M. Sponcler. A graduate of Newnan High School, Lucy attended Brenau College. She was a life-long member of Central Baptist Church, where she helped in the Beginner’s Department for many years. Always active in her community and in the lives of her children, she was a member of the Newnan Junior Service League and was a Brownie leader. She owned and operated Colvin’s Children’s Store from 1952 until 1962. Surviving are her children, Ruth Colvin Ramsey and her husband Bud, Katie Colvin Mottola, and Noble Colvin Fillet and her husband Lance. Her grandchildren are Van (and Jessica) Mottola, Kacee Mottola, Wynn M. (and Joy) Griffin, Jamie (and Amanda) Kinsler, Christopher (and Chelsea) Kinsler, Emily Kinsler, Kaitlynn Fillet, and Kenzie Fillet. There are eight great grandchildren. She has an extended family of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Colvin’s family gathered for a private service at the graveside in Historic Oak Hill Cemetery. She was born June 17, 1923 in Newnan to the late Frank Marion Arnall & Ruth Moncrief Arnall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son Joseph Gray Hollis, III, brother Maurice Sponcler. Mrs. Hollis graduated from Newnan High School, attended Agnes-Scott College & Gulf Park College before graduating from Brenau University. She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she helped with the children in the Cradle Roll for many years. Always active in her community and the lives of her children, she was a member of the Newnan Junior Service League and was a Brownie troop leader. The funeral is Thursday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery, Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. The visitation is Wednesday afternoon between 4:30 - 6:30 at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice or to Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1221, Newnan, GA 30264. The family would like to acknowledge her caregivers, Janet, Doris, Martha Nell, Penny, Cassandra, Shelia, Virginia, & Pam for the exceptional assistance.
