Barry Lynn Arndt
(November 16, 1945 - April 16, 2010)

Barry was born in Emporia, Kansas on November 16, 1945 to John and Elizabeth Arndt. When he was 18 months old the family moved to the Callaghan Ranch, a large cattle operation in Encinal, Texas. He lived there and grew up doing jobs on the ranch. As soon as he was able he was on a horse with the rest of the cowboys tending cattle. He lived there until he went to college at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. From there he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. While attending college he was the manager for the school's experimental cattle feeding operation. Soon after graduation he went into the Army. He spent his Army time as a lab tech at Fort Meade in Maryland.

After his tour ended he went back into the cattle business moving to Blythe, Ca to work at Western Cattle Feeders. From there he went to the Tejon Ranch Co. in Bakersfield. Tejon Ranch transferred him to Turlock to manage a ranch on East Avenue in Turlock. He has worked on cattle ranches from Oregon to Nevada, in Williams, Castro Valley, Ione and many other places in California. He worked for Martin Livestock for over 20 years and loved every minute of his time there.

When he was transferred to Turlock, he met Jeannine Johnsen. They were married in 1973 and spent 36 happy and event filled years together. Barry was a unique individual, kind, loving, helpful and always the gentleman. Always willing to help anyone and his great life's work was to work hard and do the best job at whatever task he was given.

He was a cowboy and ranch worker until back injuries caused him to quit riding horses. He loved being a cowboy; always out in the open, rain or shine.

Barry was a man of many surprises, always knew what was going on in the football, sport world, stock market, or any current event he was asked about. He loved musicals.

Barry leaves his wife Jeannnine, father John Arndt, sisters Marty Close (Pat), Rita Peters, and Sharon Pomar all of Texas. Brother in law Marvin Johnsen, sister in law Danette Tiernan (Bill) in Turlock, and many nieces and nephews both in Turlock, Texas, and all over the United States.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. in Turlock. Interment will be private.

Donations to Heart Association and Turlock Historical Society, in lieu of flowers.
