Son of George Miller Ashby and Rosalie Abigail Carman, husband of Edna Gwendolyn Hildreth and father of Edward Carman Ashby.

In 1900, George C. Ashby, aged 14, born December 1885 in New York, was living in Islip, New York, with his widowed father, George M. Ashby, aged 41, born November 1858 in New York, and siblings, Roger R. Ashby, aged 8, born November 1891 in New York, and Julia N. Ashby, aged , born November 1892, aunt, Mary B. Green, aged 35, born August 1864 in New York, and servant, Sophie Suda, aged 21. His father was shown to be a carpenter.

Obituary - Word has just reached the News of the recent death of George Ashby, a former resident of Bayport and the son of George Ashby, a member of the firm of Ashby & Breckenridge, well-known builders here a generation ago. Mr. Ashby, who made his home in Mineola, died in the hospital there after a long illness, shortly after his return from Florida. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Edna Hildreth, and by a sister, Miss Rosalie Ashby.
