Elsie Asmundson, 92, from Minot and rural Tagus, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, in a Minot nursing home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold. Burial is in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery at Tagus.

Visitation is Wednesday from 9 am to service time at the church.

Elsie was born September 25, 1914, in DeGraff, MN, to Ray and Christine Stockdill. She moved with her family to the Hartland area where she was raised and attended school. Elsie graduated from Hartland High School in 1932 and then received a teaching certificate from Minot State College. Elsie taught in the Viola School District, rural Tagus.

Elsie married Henry "Hank" Asmundson on December 26, 1941, in Sidney, MT. They farmed and ranched on the Asmundson family farm and raised their family there. They started spending winters in Arizona, and in 1997 they moved into Minot. Hank died on February 1, 2002, and Elsie continued to live at Edgewood Vista until 2005 when she entered Trinity Homes.

Elsie was a member of the Ree Homemakers Club. She had been a member of the Hartland Lutheran Church and the church ladies group as well as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member at Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, and was active in its church ladies group.

Survivors include her sons, Ron (Carol), of Dallas, Texas, Tony (Faye), Berthold, Knute (Maylynn), Granville, and Greg, of Payson, AZ; daughter, Linda Schumaier, Apache Junction, AZ; grandchildren, Ryan, Aaron, Kriistine, Kevin, Randi, Mark, Nick, Brock, and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Joshiah, Kaysea, Katelyn, Riley, Jakob, and Lee; brothers, Lynn (Arlene) Stockdill, Donnybrook, and Floyd (Leatrice) Stockdill, Garrison; and sister, Joyce Lallo, Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry; son, Guy; brothers, Percy, Raymond and Vernon; and sister, Claryce.

Springan Funeral Home, Stanley, handled the arrangements.
