From Her Family

If you knew her you loved her. If she knew you, you had a cheerleader and supporter for life. They say to live fully is to never fear death, mom was such a woman. No matter her circumstances she lived every day as if it would be her last. Surviving nine heart attacks, she made every minute count. Only death itself could bring her down.

She valued life like no other. Everyday was a day to celebrate, rook cards in hand. Special occasions such as birthdays and Holidays were off the chart. If Hallmark made a card for it, then mom decorated for it and threw a party in its honor. All were invited and expected. She was always gathering us and smothering us with love and reminding us that there was no stronger nor more precious bond than family. If you were lucky enough to be anywhere along her line of kin, you were cherished without reserve.

To live life without resisting it, to simply let if flow, is to live in a state of grace. This was our mom. She never had problems only solutions, she saw all of life as an opportunity and was the most resourceful being we have ever known, making something spectacular out of what seemed like nothing. To her, life was always good and noteworthy.

We will miss you Aura Akers and your wonderful glorious regal spirit that knew no bounds. May this next part of your journey be as overflowing as the one spent here. We love you so very much, and are deeply saddened knowing that the special events in life will not be quite as special without you, but we will smile and have joy in our hearts, and decorate, because that is what you taught us. Until we meet again…
