Albes-Atwater Nuptials
An extremely quiet and very happy wedding took place in San Rafael on Petaluma avenue last Tuesday. The contracting parties were Thomas Grant Ables, nephew of the Hon. T.J. Ables, the Tomales banker, and Miss Jennie E. Atwater, sister of Miss Lizzie Atwater, the well known school teacher of San Rafael. The wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Woodward of Petaluma. Only relatives and intimate friends of the family witnessed the ceremony. The groom is well known in Tomales and was in the employ of Supervisor Burbank for sometime. At present he holds a lucrative position in Petaluma, where the honeymoon will be spent.

Adopted Son Edwin A. Atwater
The one clue about the identity of Edwin A. Ables is his "adopted son" entry on Jennie's 1930 census. I believe Edwin is Edwin ATWATER Ables, since Atwater is Jennie's maiden name. Unfortunately, Ables perished aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Carrier USS Serpens during an explosion in Guadalcanal, during WWII. The Coast Guard records Able's sister as Frances Johnson Holloway Przybycien, Alameda county. I assume she is Edwin's biological sister. I have done a great search for Edwin, but information is minimal.

I have virtually linked Edwin to his adopted mother Jennie, but not to Thomas Ables, since he died in 1894.
