Arthur L. Atwill was born on a farm near Lebanon, Ks. on August 5, 1922, he was the 7th child of Nellie (Carpenter) and Art "AJ" Atwill. He passed away August 22, 1996 in Salina, Ks. He grew up in Lebanon and graduated High School in 1942.
He enlisted in the Navy on Sept. 17, 1942 and returned home from war, Nov. 13, 1945. He served his country proud. Thank you for your service.

Art married Fern Belle on April 16, 1945 and they had a baby girl; Teri Jo, born Feb. 25, 1953. Fern died later that year on Dec. 14, 1953.
Art married Betty Ferguson on Dec. 24, 1954 they were blessed with two sons; Donald and Gary.

Art and family lived in Smith Center until 1990. While there Art started Atwill Plumbing and Electrical, he was the Smith County Sheriff for one term. Then in 1959 he became an inspector for the Kansas Revenue Department for 25 years. The county fairs hated to see him coming. He made them tow the line.

He was a member of the Smith Center Lions Club.

Art retired and moved to Salina (1990) where he lived the remainder of his life.

He was a son, brother, husband, Father, Uncle and Grandfather.
