L. B. August Sr.
Lawrence Bernard August Sr., 57, of 1152-17th St., Newport News, died unexpectedly Tuesday in Mary Immaculate Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Newport News, he was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and the Hilton Tennis Club, and was a civilian employee of the Navy as an inspector at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Miriam Louise Mooney August; two sons, Lawrence Bernard August Jr., and John B. August Sr., all of Newport News; brother, Arthur A. August of Orange, N. J., and five grandchildren.
A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today in Peninsula Funeral Home. Requiem Low Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church by Father Allan Grant, assistant pastor. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randall Gregory, John Fenimore, Ray Foster, John Dobson, Hjalmar Fond and William Morgan.
