On 4-04-2015 I got an email from AlbFirefly with more information about Louise Alger. It had the information that Louise was a widow when she died and it had Louise's exact date of birth and said that it was New York City. The email also gave the maiden name of Louise as Austin and that her mother was also a Louise but that her father was Almerin Austin which seems a little strange and maybe a transcription error.
With a little further research, I discovered that Louisa Austin, age 24, was on the New York State Census of 1855 at Stockport, Columbia County, New York with her mother Louisa Austin, age 50, who is listed as head of household which would suggest that she was probably a widow. Other children in the household were: Jason Austin, age 20, Elizabeth Austin, age 26, and Jane P. Austin, age 17. There were also: William Fisk, age 38, brother of Louisa Austin who was about 50, and William Austin, age 8, grandchild of the Louisa Alger who was about 50.
There is a Louise Alger, age 49, born in New York on the U. S. Census of 1880 at Stockport, Columbia County, New York. She is married to George F. Alger, age 45, born in New York. George is listed as the head of household. There are four sons in the household: Meade Alger, age 22, Robert Alger, age 18, Frederick Alger, age 16, and Jared Alger, age 12. There are also three unmarried daughters: Ida, age 9, Ella, age 5, and Ada, age 9. Ada and Ida are either twins or there is a transcription error of some kind. Rounding out the related part of the household is married daughter Elizabeth (Alger) Davis, age 24, her husband, Thomas Davis, age 24, born in England, and grandson George Davis, age 1, born in New York. In addition there is an unrelated John Finnegan, age 19, born in New York.
