Amanda E. Axton, 89, of Poseyville, Indiana, born to Choice and Ammer (Asher) Clark on November 15, 1924, in Dixon, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, Indiana.
She was a farmers' wife, dedicated mother and homemaker and had worked for Whirpool and Republic Aviation as one of the "Rosie the Riveter's" on military aircraft for World War II.
Surviving are her 2 sons: Alvin (Gail) Axton of New Harmony, Indiana and Jimmie (Kathy) Axton of Cynthiana, Indiana; 5 brothers; 3 sisters: Dorothy Roberts of Nebo, Kentucky, Naomi Williams of Chandler, Indiana and Lila Pritchett of Newburgh, Indiana; 2 grandchildren: Chad Axton and Heather Martin; 3 great grandchildren: Katelyn , Noah and Logan and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband of 55 years: Aaron Lee Axton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Indiana with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Wadesville, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Deaconess Visiting Nurse Association, Charlier Hospice Center, PO Box 3487, Evansville, Indiana 47734-9983.
