Jennie Annonio, 90, of Fairhope, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 6, 2015. The daughter of the late William G. and Edna Brooks Axton, she was born in Belle Vernon on June 5, 1924. She was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon and spent her final years making her home with her daughter, Maggie. Jennie graduated from Marion School as well as Penn State Culinary School and worked as the head cook for the Belle Vernon Area School District retiring in 1987 after 24 years. She was also a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack John Annonio; a daughter, Shirley Ann Shannon-Nangle; eight brothers, William, Paul, Wayne, Harry, Charles, Robert, Glen and Phillip Axton; a granddaughter, Tracy Nangle-Cragette; and a grandson, Jason Whipkey. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William T. Shannon and his wife Edith of Baltimore, Md.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores J. Ross and her husband, Cal, of Mt. Pleasant, Margaret Little and her husband, Arthur, of Star Junction, Jacqueline Whipkey and her husband, Larry, of Acme and Lorraine M. McCullough and her husband, Andrew of Del Rio, Texas; 15 grandchildren, David, Jack, Shawn, Dean and Randy Carlson, Pam McConnell, Michelle Gardner, Ricky and Chad Nangle, Jennifer Nangle-George, Arthur Little, Jr., Lisa Little, Brian Whipkey, Peter J. Carlson and Tabitha Weiland; three stepgrandchildren, Leonard, Ernest and Hazel; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, http://www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. A blessing service will be in the funeral home Monday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated in Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen at 10 a.m. the Rev. Father Michael Crookston celebrating. Interment to follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
