Ann (Eoff) Ayres was the daughter of Jacob Eoff and Elizabeth Van Pelt, natives of New Jersey. Ann was born in New Jersey, and was raised in that state and also Ohio and Illinois. She had two brothers, James L Eoff and Robert Eoff, and a sister, Mary Eoff.

Ann married Alfred Ayres, a merchant, February 20, 1840 in Greene County, Illinois where they made their home in Whitehall. Alfred and Ann had seven known children, Charles H Ayres, Mary A Ayres, Alfred Ayres, Rescarick Ayres, William Millard Ayres, Henrietta Ayres and Mary Ayres. Ann is buried in Whitehall, death date unknown.
