Mrs. Marion Babbitt, 76, mother of the late Clinton C. Babbitt, popular radio entertainer of station WCLO and later a Milwaukee station, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Canniff, route 7, following four months illness. Mrs. Babbitt was a resident of Janesville for the past 12 years.
She was born in Dayton, Wis., March 28, 1856, the daughter of John and Margaret Lawler Dick, pioneer resident of Wisconsin who had immigrated from Scotland and Ireland. Her girlhood was spent in Dayton. Later she moved to Oregon, Wis., where she was married to Byron Babbitt, June 1, 1877. Three children were born to this union, Daisy E. Canniff and Calla M. Bartz, both of Janesville and Clinton C. Babbitt, deceased. Mr. Babbitt died Dec. 6, 1924 while Clinton Babbitt died in Janesville April 4, 1932.
For many year Mrs. Babbitt lived in Evansville, where she was a practical nurse. She was chaplain of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary and a member of the E.R.A. fraternal organization….
