Madison - Vivienne Martha Babcock, age 91, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare.

Vivienne was born January 15, 1921, in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lydia and George Van Wagner. She graduated from High School in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin in 1940. She then attended and graduated from Milwaukee Accredited Beauty School in Madison in 1941.

Vivienne held various jobs. She was beautician, and held positions at Montgomery Ward, Rayovac, MGE and for the State of Wisconsin Securities Commission.

Vivienne married Gordon Henry Babcock on December 6, 1952 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. They lived a very happy marriage until Gordon's death in 2002. Vivienne's interests, besides work, included sewing, gardening, music and theater. She spent years working with World Relief Quilters at her church, Midvale Community Lutheran Church in Madison, where she and Gordon had been members since 1964. She also spent a large share of her life caring for her mother and mother-in-law.

Vivienne was preceded in death by Gordon, her parents, and Gordon's parents.

Vivienne will be remembered as a loving and caring friend who dedicated her life to family and her church, a great gardener, and a lover of animals. She had a great talent for sewing and loved music. She and Gordon frequently attended the Madison and Milwaukee Symphonies as well as many theatrical performances.

Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
