He was the son of William Bache, and the great-grandson of Benjamin Franklin.
Dr. Bâche was born in Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, near Charlottesville, VA, while his parents, William Franklin Bâche and Catherine Wistar Bâche were living at their farm, "Franklin", on the north side of Charlottesville, VA.
