Mr. Albert Sidney Bacon Jr., 67, died October 6, 2002, at his residence. He was a 1957 graduate of Georgia Teachers College. He coached basketball and taught math at Glenwood High School for two years. Mr. Bacon managed Morrison's cafeterias in Savannah, Columbus and Atlanta. He was a retired owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in Charlottesville, Va. He was the past president of Charlottesville Albemarle Virginia Restaurant Association. He was an avid supporter of the University of Virginia and Georgia Southern University Athletics. He enjoyed hunting, surf fishing and especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Geyer; and two brothers, Layton P. Bacon and Harry M. Bacon.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Brantley Bacon of Statesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert Sidney Bacon III and his wife, Angela of Savannah and Gregory Riley Bacon and his wife, Sarah Elizabeth of Statesboro; three grandchildren, Dylan Bird Bacon, Sarah Elaine Bacon and Sydney Elise Bacon, all of Statesboro; one brother, Thomas H. Bacon of Pembroke; one sister, Catherine B. Brown of McRae; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Bacon will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Turner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Kurt Bacon and Roger Sims officiating. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery in Pembroke.
