Arlene Bailey, 79 of Nobleboro, left this earth for her eternal life with our Heavenly Father, on the afternoon of September 15, 2016. Born on February 25, 1937 in Damariscotta, she was the daughter of Rial and Hazel Herald.

Arlene graduated from Lincoln Academy, and later married John F. Bailey on December 7th 1957. In 1965, Arlene and John accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into their hearts, and became born again Christians.

Arlene was a loving mother, and after her children were in school, she worked at Michaud’s Market, then at Lincoln Academy, from where she retired. Behind every strong man, there is a supporting and loving woman. Arlene traveled with John often, as they shared Gospel messages and their own personal testimonials.

Arlene loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and you would often hear her sharing stories about all of them. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John F. Bailey; siblings, Earl Herald and Edith Dauphin; and great-grandchildren, Keegan and Piper.

Arlene is survived by her children, Teresa Markiewicz and husband Tom, Wendell Bailey and wife Susan, and Glenn Bailey and his wife Carmen; nephew, Richard Bailey; brother-in-law, Lynn Bailey; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at 5pm, on Tuesday, September 20th at the Faith Baptist Church, 144 Mills Road, Newcastle, with Pastor David O’Donnell officiating. She will be laid to rest privately in the Highland Cemetery in Nobleboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ecumenical Food Pantry, PO Box 46, Newcastle, ME 04553; or the food pantry of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543. Condolences, and messages for the family, may be expressed by visiting: www.StrongHancock.com.
