Son of James M. BAILEY.

The Messenger, Beckley, West Virginia
Thursday, October 19, 1911, page 1
Alfred Bailey, a former Raleigh resident and a son of James Bailey, died at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore last Friday, of spinal meningitis, aged 43 years.
Mr Bailey had been afflicted for some time prior to his death and had gone to Baltimore several days before to undergo treatment for his sufferings. The affection had reached that point which rendered medical skill ineffective and his spirit passed to the God who gave it.
The remains were returned to his former home at Mt Hope and on Sunday last were interred in the Sparrial Bailey cemetery, at Prosperity, near the home of his birth.
Alfred Bailey was manager of the Mt Hope Coal & Coke Co, owner of the Bailey Hotel at that place and a large property owner in the thriving city of My Hope. He had been one of the foremost in the upbuilding of that town years ago and one of its first residents. He was, also, after the conflagration of Mt Hope one of the first to begin the rebuilding a greater Mt Hope.
Mr Bailey is survived by a wife, formerly Miss Rosa Brown, and two children; a father and mother, Mr and Mrs James Bailey, of near Prosperity; three brothers, F M, Henry and Dr Samuel Bailey; and four sisters, Mrs John Williams, of this city, Mrs T A Warden, of Skelton, Mrs James Montgomery and Miss Roxie Bailey of Mt Hope.
