Felix was sixteen when his father passed away. He then had to take over the duties of operating the farm to help his mother. At the age of 41 he sold the farm. He then moved to the village where he had a closer access to his work in the forest as a lumberjack. He would cut 200 cords of maple trees and give it away to his church and friends. The one thing that gave him the most enjoyment was to sing in Latin at his church.
