Flossie Elnora Baker Maynard, age 99 died November 7, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. She was born December 28, 1914 in Jackson County Indiana to the late Samuel William Baker and Nellie A. Borders Baker. She married George Thomas Maynard in Brownstown, Indiana on June 9, 1934. They were married over 67 years at the time of his death, December 24, 2001. Mrs. Maynard is survived by a daughter, Dr. Reva Hodge (husband Michael) and six grandchildren, Michelle Flowers (husband John), Melissa Reagan (husband Darrin), Matthew Hodge (wife Dawn Dee), Mark Hodge (wife Christina), Rev. Martin Hodge (wife Mandy) and Marcie Taylor. Mrs. Maynard was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Muncie, Indiana for many years where she and Mr. Maynard received the Distinguished Service Award on their 50th wedding anniversary for years of faithful service. She has been Sunday School Supervisor and teacher, Junior Church Supervisor and has worked with her husband in the Home Department ministry. Mrs. Maynard was the president of the ladies’ auxiliary and chairman of the Baby Cupboard at the Muncie Mission during the 1970s and 80s. She assisted in the organization of the children’s clothing bank, was its president and also volunteered for that organization. She and her husband were presented the Sunshine Couple Award by “Muncie on the Move” March 26, 1986 for their years of service to the Muncie Mission. Her surviving brother is Edgar Baker (wife Ishmael) of Seymour, Indiana. She is preceded in death by a brother, Albert Baker and five sisters, Hazel Barrett, Violet Emmons, Thelma Jean Baker, Inez Lloyd, and Joyce Burton. Services will be Wednesday November 12, 2014 at 10:30am at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Calling will be held Tuesday November 11, 2014 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm at the funeral home.
