Marcella B. Dawson, 75, died Sunday at Ball Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Dawson was born in Muncie, where she had lived most of her life. She graduated from Central High School and was a corporate officer at Delbert M. Dawson and Son Inc. for several years. She was a member of Halteman Village Baptist Church, Esther Shrine 14, White Shrine of Jerusalem, and was the first Honored Queen. She was also a member and a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Chapter 104, and she was the Guardian of the Muncie Job's Daughter Bethel 25.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Thomas W. Dawson; a son, Richard Dawson (wife: Donna), Eaton; a daughter, Marcell A. (Sissy) Dawson, Muncie; a brother, William Baker, Plantation, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hazel Baker; a brother, Virgil Baker, and a sister, Florence Gable.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Meeks Mortuary, with Rev. Ronald D. Ross officiating. Entombment will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and before services Thursday at the mortuary.
