Carrie Baldwin, 101, of Duquesne, departed this life peacefully Saturday, March 7, 2015, at home. She was born Dec. 6, 1913, in Birmingham, Ala., daughter of the late Sam Wallace and the late Mary Jones Hampton. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Henry Baldwin Sr. and Richard Butler; sons, Henry Baldwin Jr. and Anthony Martin Baldwin. She was a faithful member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, serving as the former president of the Missionary Society. She moved to McKeesport when she was 16 years of age and later to Duquesne. She is the spiritual leader of the family and an avid reader. Her hobbies include word searches, quilting, cooking and she was known for her great sweet potato pies. Surviving are daughters, Emma B. Stephens, of Duquesne, Rhoda M. Butler, of Pittsburgh, and Mary Baldwin, of Washington, D.C.; son, Ronald (Lynda) Baldwin, of Pittsburgh; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Jerusalem Baptist Church, 12 S. Fifth St., Duquesne, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015, with the Rev. Eric Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Jefferson Memorial Park Inc., Pleasant Hills. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Missionary Society of Jerusalem Baptist Church. Local arrangements by the ROBERT A. WATERS FUNERAL HOME INC., McKeesport.
