Son of John D. and Susannah A. (Earle) Ball.

On 12 Jul 1861 Simeon, a farmer, mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Leicester, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 17 years, 11 months and 17 days old.

He was wounded on 21 Oct 1861 at The Battle of Ball's Bluff, Leesburg, Virginia.

He died on 24 Jan 1862 of disease. He was 18 years, 5 months and 30 days old.

Charles M. Ball, his brother, survived Simeon and died on 20 Aug 1864 killed in action at Ft. Stedman during seige of Petersburg, Virginia.
