He was wounded on 21 Oct 1861 at The Battle of Ball's Bluff, Leesburg, Virginia.
He died on 24 Jan 1862 of disease. He was 18 years, 5 months and 30 days old.
Charles M. Ball, his brother, survived Simeon and died on 20 Aug 1864 killed in action at Ft. Stedman during seige of Petersburg, Virginia.
