Randy died Monday at Salem Hospital.

He was born in Pueblo, Colo., the son of Herschel Evert and Oneta (Putney) Ballard. He moved to Flat Creek, N.C., in 1964. He lived in Willow Springs, N.C., for three years before moving to Albany in August 1969. He moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1982.

Randy married Brenda Dunlap on March 22, 1986, in Wasilla, Alaska. They lived in San Jose, Calif.; Albany; Alaska; and Grants Pass before moving to Salem in 1999. He had worked for Capital Auto Group. He loved music and was an artist.

He is survived by wife Brenda Ballard of Keizer; children Sheraya Ballard of Jefferson, Grant Ballard, Amanda "Mandy" Ballard and Adam Ballard, all of Keizer; mother Oneta Ballard of Albany; brothers Dwaine Ballard of Sweet Home, and David Ballard and Mark Ballard of Albany; sisters Ilene Toney of Albany, Wanda Hays of Scio, Carolyn Schaumann of Albany, Kathryn Pinkerton of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, Debbie Miller of Albany and Trish Glendening of Coeur D'Alene; and parents-in-law Darreld and Carole Dunlap of Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his father and sister Brenda Hart.
