Marilynne Elizabeth Allen, of Patterson, died peacefully in her sleep at Doctors Medical Center from complications resulting from a recent hip fracture.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late John Francis Ballinger and Mary Brown Nourse Ballinger. After high school Marilynne attended the University of Chicago, Illinois State and earned her M.S. degree at San Francisco State University. She was a Downey High School physical education teacher for seven years before getting married and becoming a full time homemaker.

Marilynne served many years on the Patterson Unified School District Board of Trustees. She was also actively involved in many community organizations such as PRIDE, Patterson Garden Club, and Patterson Friends of the Library.

Marilynne was preceded in death by her husband Allister Allen and left behind three children, Carrie Silveira (John) of Hilmar, Lisa Balucas (Ernie) of Fresno, and Carter Allen (Judy) of Patterson, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister Lourania Price of Danville.
