Aniceto Addon BANCHIERI was born the son of Ippolito and Isabella (Dell'Angelica) Banchieri, in the Tuscan village of Marlia (LUCCA), Italy. It was long believed that Aniceto was born December 14, 1887. But it was not until 1990, over a century after Aniceto's birth, archival records revealed Aniceto's true birthdate of ...NOVEMBER 14, 1887. In July 1990, a genealogical search made by Aniceto's grandson Paul Banchieri (b.1964) at Marlia's Catholic church, discovered church records verifying his grandfather's true date of birth.

Found among the parish's centuries old documents, Paul Banchieri unearthed christening ledgers revealing Aniceto Addon BANCHIERI was born at nine o'clock, on the morning of November 14, 1887, not December 14th, as previously believed. Years later, it is unclear why Aniceto accepted and recognized the incorrect December birthdate, as his own, for the remainder of his life.

The day after his birth, on November 15, 1887, Aniceto was baptised in the Catholic Church of Marila, by Father Pievi. His godparents were believed to be family members, Aniceto BANCHIERI (possibly a paternal cousin), and Annunziata Matteucci (possibly a maternal cousin), both of Marlia.

Little is known today of Aniceto's early life in Marlia. But by 1902, at the age of 14, with no family with him, and only $13 in his pocket, Aniceto embarked on his voyage to America, leaving behind the only family he'd known -his father Ippolito, mother Isabel, older brother Natale (1881-1953), and younger sister Angelina (1890-1985). Aniceto emigrated to the U.S. aboard the French oceanliner 'S.S. La Touraine', departing from Le Havre, France, and arriving to New York's Ellis Island on November 16, 1902, just 2 days after his 15th birthday. Aniceto would never return to Italy, for the remainder of his life.

On that journey, Aniceto traveled with an older family friend, who had pre-arranged employment for the teen Aniceto, to work on a Central California ranch, where hundreds of other Italians laborers lived and worked its various farming jobs.

By summer 1917, Aniceto now 29, was living at 312 N. 'F' St. in Madera, Caifornia, and working for Tyrrell Bros. On June 5, 1917, he registered for military draft, which led to his military call to serve in WWI, by July 15, 1918. Aniceto was shipped off to France with his regiment, but saw no battle campaign, as the Armistice was signed between Germany and the United States and its allies in November 1918, soon after his arrival in Europe. Aniceto's military service ended on March 4, 1919. Public records from the 1920 census recorded January 6, 1920, state that Aniceto was now living in the city of San Francisco, California, a lodger at 51 Jasper St. in the Italian neighborhood of North Beach. At this time, Aniceto worked as a dried fruit packer. Soon after, he's said to have ran a grocery on nearby Broadway Ave. (possibly at number 678).

It was in these years of the early 1920s, Aniceto met and soon married Paula LOPEZ. Their civil union ceremony was officiated by Judge James M. Troutt, at San Francisco City Hall on January 14, 1924. Later, the 1930 U.S. census, recorded the week of April 12-15 states Aniceto & Paula's residence remains at Landers Ave.

By summer 1932 Aniceto & Paula welcomed the arrival of their only child, a son Armando Norbert Banchieri, born July 17, 1932 at San Francisco General Hospital (Potrero Ave. & 23rd St.), located in the Potrero Hill district of the city. It was at this time, they resided at 2906 21st St. (located near the corner of Harrison and 21st streets). By 1936, the Banchieri family bought their first home at 1052 Rhode Island St., located in the Potrero Hill district. They would make their home here, for the next three decades.

In 1959 Aniceto lost his wife of 35 years, Paula, to a sudden stroke, in the morning hours of June 4, 1959, at their Rhode Island St. home. She was 65. Soon after, his son Armando began a family of his home, giving Aniceto great solace and peace with the births of his beloved grandsons Andrew "Andy" Edward BANCHIERI (b.December 6, 1960) and Paul Anthony BANCHIERI (b.March 3, 1964). From this time on, Aniceto lived for his grandchildren.

In August 1970, Aniceto sold his longtime home on Rhode Island St. in San Francisco, and relocated to Southern California with his son Armando, and his family. Aniceto lived the last decade of his life in the suburbs of La Mirada, CA., enjoying watching his beloved grandsons grow, and made best his final years in his new environment.

In the summer of 1980, just a few months shy of his 93rd birthday, Aniceto died on June 28, 1980, after a brief one-month illness, with a series of strokes.

Funeral/memorial services were held July 3, 1980 at Duggan's Funeral Home in the Westlake district of Daly City, CA. Burial followed at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA., where he was laid to rest with military honors, beside his beloved wife Paula. At the time of his death, Aniceto was survived by his sister Angelina BANCHIERI-Belluomini (of Santa Margherita, ITALY), his son Armando, daughter-in-law Geni, and his two grandsons Andy & Paul Banchieri.
