Charles R. Banks, Planter, Dies

Charles R. Banks, Tyronza, Ark., planter, horse fancier, and church and civic leader, former member of the Baptist Hospital board of trustees, died yesterday at Methodist Hospital. He was 64.

Mr. Banks owned extensive farm interests in Commerce, Miss., before moving to Tyronza about 22 years ago. He was an ardent horseman and owned several fine trotting horses. He was a member of Whitten, Ark., Baptist Church. where he deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the board of trustees of Southern Baptist College at Walnut Ridge, Ark.

He leaves his wife, Mayme Johnson Banks, and a son, Albert Banks of Tyronza; his brother, William Harvey Banks of Memphis, and two grandsons.

Services at 3 p.m. today at Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Rev. L. V. Boles and Rev. Thurston Masters officiating. Burial in Memorial Park.
