ARISTES — Florence A. Alger, 73, formerly of Aristes, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Care One Nursing Home, Jackson, N.J.
Born Dec. 6, 1940, in Aristes, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Rhoades) Barbosa.
She attended and graduated from Central Avenue High School and Girls Vocational School in New Jersey.
Florence married Virgil Alger, who preceded her in death in 1987.
She worked as a secretary for many years, last working at Laubenstein Manufacturing Co., Ashland, until retirement.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Aristes.
Surviving are a brother, William Barbosa, of Jackson, N.J., and her nieces and nephews, Suzanne Perret, Leeanne Barbosa-Nicholas, Scott Barbosa, Christian Barbosa and Joseph Barbosa, all in Jackson, N.J.
Funeral services were held at the Willard Rothermel Funeral Home, 120 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Ray Rothermel, supervisor, with the Rev. Alfred Bashore officiating. Interment was in Numidia Cemetery, Numidia. (Actual name is St Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Numidia)
