Rochester – James Barker, Jr. 83, passed away Tuesday June 29, 2010 at his home following a period of failing health.

Born March 13, 1927 in Boston, MA, son of the late James P. and Bertha (McNeil) Barker, Sr.

James served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked as a driver for Helms Express. He was a member of the American Legion Post 19, the Elks Lodge 1393 of Rochester. He loved people and animals, playing golf, music, dancing, and was a very patriotic man.

Members of his family include his children James Barker, III and his partner Joyce MacMillan of Chester, NH; Kenneth Barker and his wife Carol of Saco, ME; Cheryl Farrell and her husband William of Rochester and Mary Stuart of Rochester, his grandchildren Michelle Durkee, James Barker, IV, Kimberly Barker, Kenneth Barker, Joseph Stuart, and Jacqueline Stuart, two great grandchildren William Durkee, and Brielle Durkee, his siblings John Barker of Marblehead, MA; Charles Barker of St. Petersburg, FL; and Marie Gethner of ME; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Yvonne M. (Petipas) Barker.

Family and friends may visit Monday July 5th 2010 from 4–8 at the R. M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10AM at St. Mary Church located on Lowell St. in Rochester.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery following the Mass.
