HOWE, Texas — Services for Virginia Lee Baker, 74, Howe, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday March 23, in the First Baptist Church of Howe. The Rev. Roger Tidwell of the church will officiate. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in the city cemetery at Konawa. Deacon Marvin Patterson of the First Baptist Church of Konawa will officiate.
Mrs. Baker died Monday, March 16, at a Dallas hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1934, in Konawa, Okla., to Marvin and Eunice Harvel Barker.
She married Buddy Baker on Sept. 19, 1956, in Konawa.
Mrs. Baker and her husband worked together for many years, with Virginia as the bookkeeper at Baker Air and Heat. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Howe where she served as the pianist.
Survivors include her husband, Buddy of Howe; one son, Larry Allen Baker and wife, Terri Ann of Casper, Wyo.; one daughter, Brenda Diane Hemperley and husband Mark of Howe; six grandchildren, Brent Daniel Hemperley, Sean Alan Hemperley, Matthew Alan Baker, Daniel Dean Baker, Mitchell Paul Baker, and Lucas David Baker; and one sister, Lillian Ilene Thompson, Checotah, Okla.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kathy Dean Baker; and one brother, John Andrew Barker.
Bearers are Steve Parish, Leon Thornhill, Larry Messick, John Bell, Sam Hagis, Danny Goard, and Charlie Farris. Honorary bearers will be her grandsons, Brent Daniel Hemperley, Sean Alan Hemperley, Matthew Alan Baker, Daniel Dean Baker, Mitchell Paul Baker, and Lucas David Baker.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman.
