James Stockard Barksdale Jr., 54, died May 28, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle in Columbus.

Services were today at 11 a.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with James Gardner officiating. Burial followed in Egger Cemetery.

Mr. Barksdale was born Dec. 7, 1956, to the late James Stockard and Frances Louise House Barksdale in Caledonia. He was a lifetime resident of Lowndes County and a graduate of Caledonia High School. He was Baptist, a member of High Nob Hunting Club and Land O'Lakes of Brooksville. He was the owner of Tri-Star Marine.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Gandy Barksdale of Steens; son, Brian Barksdale of Columbus; daughters, Michelle Barksdale of Columbus; Ladawn Marcum of Columbus and Ashley Pruett of Columbus; brother, Ira Barksdale of Caledonia; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Shane Pruett, Joe Wayne Langford, Johnny Taylor, Don Hitchcock, Tim Scrivner and Ben Kilgore.
