Ethel Arlene passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Porteous Lodge. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Ethel was born on March 25, 1921 at Ponas Lake, SK on the farm. She was educated at Quill Lake and Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon. She married Leo Spitzig on August 31, 1940 and Leo passed away in 1985 in Kelowna. She met and married Lewis Barnard in Kelowna and he passed away in 1992 in Kelowna. She moved back to Saskatoon in 1997 where she resided until her passing. Ethel was predeceased by her in-laws, Bernard in 1995 and Amelia in 1964; her father and mother, Allan in 1974 and Jessie in 1971 at Quill Lake; her brothers, Cloyd in 1969, Verle in 1998, Eunice in 2002 and Horatio in 2003. Surviving are Allene (Steve) Paulow, Bernadette (Sydney) Sargent, Rita (Bill) Lamb, Mary Anne in Hawaii, Edmond in Denver, CO, Norma Haggard and Allie Hartley, Jim (Cathy) Haggard in Medicine Hat and Irene Wolfe at Ingelfeld and grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss their Grandma. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Centre.
