A. Raphael Barnett, 64, Died Friday Morning After Long Illness
Albert Raphael Barnett, age 64, prominent Johnson County farmer, died at his home in Blue River Township five miles south of Franklin at 4:20 o'clock Friday morning. He had been ill for the past year and seriously ill for the past six months.
Services will be held at the residence at 9:15 o'clock Monday morning followed by funeral rites at the Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Harry Lett, pastor of the Union Christian Church of which Mr. Barnett was a member, will be in charge, assisted by the Rev. L.P. Carter, pastor of the Tabernacle Church.
Friends are invited to call at the home prior to the services and to attend the funeral rites. Burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Barnett was born in Nineveh Township, Sept. 30, 1871, the son of William Harry and Lucy Boyd Barnett. He was a resident of Johnson County all of his life except about ten years when he lived at Port Arthur, Canada. He lived on the farm near Amity where he died, for the past 19 years.
He was twice married. On June 17, 1903, Mr. Barnett was united in marriage to Miss Katie Hollenbeck at Port Arthur, Canada. She died in Indianapolis in 1912.
On March 14, 1919, Mr. Barnett married Miss Alta May Fix of Greenwood, a teacher in the Greenwood schools, who survives.
To this union three children were born, Clara Margaret, age 19, Richard Wallace, age 17, and Robert Boyd, age 15, all living at home.
Two brothers, John Ambrose Barnett of Springfield, Mo., and the Rev. Carl H Barnett of Lebanon, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Barnett's mother died in 1905 and his father in 1921.
Mr. Barnett was held in high esteem by a large number of friends. He took an active part in the life of his community and was a faithful member of the Union Christian Church.
