Albert Barrette, 88, of Cheboygan, passed away at the Cheboygan Health Care Center on Saturday, May 5, 2001. He was born in Cheboygan on May 16, 1912, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Vieau) Barrette. He married Bernice M. Graham in Cheboygan on Nov. 17, 1934. Albert was employed with General Motors Hydramatic in Ypsilanti until 1974 when he retired. Following his retirement he and his wife resided in Florida until 1999 when they moved back to Cheboygan. Survivors include his wife Bernice, and his children William (Norma) Barrette of Cheboygan, Gerald (June) Barrette of Harahan, La., Donald (Patricia) Barrette of Cheboygan and Janet Bosnak of New Port Richey, Fla. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as his sisters Alice Lafrinere, Shirley (Edward) Brovage and Lucille (Robert) Jewett all of Cheboygan. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Gloria and his brothers Arthur, Adolph (Benny), Alexander and Andrew and his sisters Agatha Kolatski and Mary Schramm Bur. Cremation services have been provided by the Christian Funeral Home. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to remember the Alzheimer's Unit at Cheboygan Health Care Center.
