Dorthy Bailey, 83, of Big Spring, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Big Spring Center for Skilled Care.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, February 17, 2017 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Dorthy was born April 2, 1933 in Durant, Oklahoma to Versie Verda Yates Barrow and Walter Lonzo Barrow.
She moved to Big Spring in 1953 from Wichita Falls and had been a resident of Howard County since that time.
She had worked at Ramada Inn Restaurant for many years. She later worked at Quick Clean Laundry on Gregg Street.
She married Charles Edwin Bailey on September 17, 1981.
Dorthy volunteered for many years at the Big Spring Senior Citizens Center.
She loved watching her grandkids sports events, square dancing and line dancing.
She is survived by her husband Charles Bailey of Big Spring; two daughters: Brenda Boyd and husband Jim of Utopia and Twila Wegner and husband Robby of Big Spring; one son: Darrell Nichols and wife Sheri of Big Spring; two step-daughters: Marie Walker of Odessa and Terri Johnson of McKinney; three step-sons: Charles (Tinker) Bailey, Jr. of Columbus, TX, Mike Bailey of Brazoria and Rick Bailey and wife Sheri of Big Spring; one brother: Eugene Barrow of California; 21 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a very special niece Tanya Beck.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Carla Smith, two brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Lance Smith, Justin Nichols, Jacob Nichols, Heath Wegner, Braden Wegner Rick Bailey, Jr. and Josh Bailey. Honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Boyd.
