RUTH E. HENRIOT
July 23, 1924 - Jan. 16, 2009

Ruth Ellen (Barry) Henriot, 84, died unexpectedly on Friday evening, Jan. 16 at her home in Hillsboro with loved ones present.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, 5105 S.W. Franklin St., in Beaverton. Private interment will be in the Willamette National Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to attend the service in the chapel, followed immediately by a reception in the parish hall across from the church. The High Strung Strings will provide music.

Ruth Ellen Henriot was born on July 23, 1924, to George J. Barry and Alice E. (Colman) Barry, and reared in Merrimac, Mass.

She married ALFRED W. HENRIOT on Dec. 15, 1945, in Hamden, Conn., and lived in Connecticut until moving to Southern California in 1952, settling in Huntington Beach in 1962 to raise their two children, Barry William, whom they adopted when he was 8 weeks old, and Michele whom they adopted when she was 6 months old.

Tragically, in 1981, they lost their son Barry to a cerebral aneurysm at the age of 25. They honored his life and his wish to be an organ donor.

The Henriots moved to Palm Springs, Calif., where they lived until 1990, when they moved to Beaverton.

Al Henriot died on June 4, 1994, after more than 48 years of marriage together. Mrs. Henriot was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother James Barry.

Mrs. Henriot continued to live in Beaverton, until September 2006, when she moved to Hillsboro to live with her daughter and family, where she enjoyed a full, active life until the day she died.

She was a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church, having been a member of the St. Cecilia Parish in Beaverton and the St. Matthew Parish in Hillsboro.

She and her husband were members of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

Mrs. Henriot was kept busy with the Young at Heart Seniors at the St. Cecilia Parish, playing Bunko at the Hillsboro Senior Center, and she especially enjoyed the luncheons and outings with the Welcome Wagon and Gadabouts of Washington County.

Among her special interests she enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards and loved exercising at Hawthorne Farm Athletic Club in Hillsboro.

She also had a special love for her grandchildren and quilting, making a special quilt for each child. She thoroughly enjoyed staying in touch with her friends.

She was known to be a loving, kind, giving and optimistic person her whole life.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Michele and Dave Fritzler, of Hillsboro; four grandchildren Jonathon Barry Fritzler, Nicholas David Fritzler, Chelsea Michele Fritzler and Zachery Kenneth Fritzler, all of Hillsboro; nieces and nephews and their spouses and many grand-and great-grand nieces and nephews.

The family of Ruth E. Henriot suggests that donations in her memory be contributions to the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center Foundation Heart and Vascular Institute, 503-216-2088.
