Donald graduated from St. Louis High School in 1943 and joined the Army Air Corps. After training he was assigned to the 8th Air Force and a B-24 Bomb Squadron. He served in the European Theater until the end of World War II as a wing gunner on a B-24. Donald is the last surviving member of his flight crew.
Following his time in the service, he returned to Webster and graduated from Nichols College in 1947. While at Nichols, Donald had a very respectable baseball career and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He chose a different path and married Ellen after graduation and began a career at Cranston Print Works in the Personnel Department. He remained at Cranston until his retirement.
Don was a member and past President of the Exchange Club of Webster, a past member of the Personnel Directors Association and remained an active member of the 93rd Bombardment Group.
Donald will be remembered as a loving husband, a terrific father, a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather, best friend and a gentle, good man.
