LUNENBURG -- Diane L. (Garrity) Barry, 59, of 191 Cross Road, formerly of Leominster died Sunday, Dec. 22, in UMass/Memorial Healthcare Center, Lake Avenue Campus, Worcester, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Barry was born in Leominster the daughter of E. Robert and Ruth (Robertson) Garrity and had lived in Leominster until moving to Lunenburg in 1978. She graduated from Leominster High School in 1961.
She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist First Church in Leominster . She had been a volunteer for many years at Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg and had been active in the Parent Teacher Association, when she lived in Leominster . She enjoyed playing cards and playing bingo, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, David M. Barry; two sons, Robert D. Barry, and Richard K. Berry and his wife, Lainey; a daughter, Cynthia L. Howe and her husband Rand; her parents, E. Robert and Ruth (Robertson) Garrity; three sisters, Judith Muller, Roberta Ashton, and Pamela Balutis; and six grandchildren.
BARRY -- On Dec. 22, Diane L. (Garrity) Barry, 59, of Lunenburg. A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 27 at 10 a.m. in the Unitarian Universalist First Church in Leominster , 15 West St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery , Leominster . There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Central Massachusetts, Inc., 1 Abbey Lane, Middleboro, Mass. 02346. The Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster , is directing arrangements.
