A Double Bereavement
Mrs. Charles E. Aldrich, 62, died yesterday afternoon shortly after 1 o'clock from pneumonia and complications. She is survived by her husband, one grandson, five brothers and three sisters. this makes the second death in the family this week. Mrs. Aldrich's daughter, Mrs. George W. Lawrence, having died Monday from the same disease. Much sympathy is expressed for Mr. Aldrich in his double bereavement. The funeral will be held to-morrow (Sunday) at the house and will be private. Burial will be in Green River cemetery.
Mrs. Aldrich's maiden name was Caroline A. Bartlette and she was the daughter of Marshall J. Bartlett of Enfield. Her marriage to Mr. Aldrich took place about 35 years ago. He is a railroad engineer and most of their married life has been spent in this town, with some years at South Vernon. Mrs. Aldrich was a member of the First Methodist Church. She leaves a family of eight brothers and sisters, Livingston and Eugene Bartlett of Amherst, Myron Bartlett of Springfield, J. F. Bartlett of Turners Falls, Leander L. Bartlett of Montague City, Mrs. Henrietta Wade of Ludlow, Mrs. Callister Wheeler of Amherst, and Mrs. Charles Angell of Springfield.
