Howard Barton, Jr., ten years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Barton, of 469 West Avenue, Sewaren, was struck by a car driven by William Gardner, of 128 Woodbridge avenue, Saturday afternoon. He sustained a fractured skull and died shortly after reaching the Perth Amboy Hospital, where he was taken by Gardner after the accident.
Thomas Somer investigated the accident, and reported that Gardner was driving on West avenue, a short distance from the boy's home, when the youngster ran from behind a parked ice truck into the path of the Gardner car. Herbert Van Vlierden, of Sewaren avenue, witnessed the accident.
Besides his parents he is survived by a twin sister.
The funeral was held from the home Tuesday morning at 8:30 and at 9:00 o'clock from St. Marys Church, Perth Amboy, where a solemn requiem high mass was said. Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
