ELLEN B. CHAMBERS passed away at her residence in Concord June 22, 2005, at age 78 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, former Concord Police Chief James L. Chambers, Sr. (1986). Lovingly survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and George Clark of Roseburg, Ore.; son James L. Chambers, Jr. and daughter Ellen Diane Chambers, both of Concord; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother James Basie and sister Myrtle Painter, both of Roseburg, Ore. The family would also like to express gratitude for the total devotion and unconditional care of our mother and grandmother by her caregiver of 5 years, Isabel "Bing" Duhemel. Ellen was a retired registered nurse. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bryant & Moore Chapel, 1385 Galindo Street, Concord, Calif., (925) 682-1100. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Concord Stake Center, 1590 Dekinger Road, Concord. Burial Oakmont Memorial Park, Lafayette. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Contra Costa, 3470 Buskirk Avenue, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, or American Cancer Society, East Bay Region, 1700 Webster Street, Oakland, CA 94612.
