Patricia A. Coburn Bates, 72, of Wallace, passed away at 10:53am, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the United Hospital Center. She was born in Haywood, October 25, 1940 a daughter of the late Stanley Loy and Irene F. Leveck Coburn. Surviving are two sons, Ty L. Bates and his wife Starla, Middle Run, Andrew M. Bates, Dola, three grandchildren, Tabatha Sapp and her husband Jeff, Grafton, Gary Ross Bates, II, Middle Run, Mary Bennett and her husband Doug, Wallace, three great-grandchildren Reese Bennett, Kale Bennett, and Jordyn Gwynn Sapp, who is soon to arrive, her former spouse and father of her children, Gary R. Bates, one sister, Shirley McCullough and her husband Marion, Wallace, several nieces and nephews, and her bird "Frankie". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lee Harvath, Belva Jo Davis, and her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Bates. Patricia was a 1959 graduate of Wallace High School. She was a Powder Puff Race Car Driver in the 1960's having won many awards. She attended the Ten Mile Baptist Church, Dola, and was a very loving mother and grandmother. Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, Rt. 19 South, Shinnston from 4-8pm, Monday and 2-8pm, Tuesday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, December 12, with Pastor Gary Dennison officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Brown, WV. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com. The Perine Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bates family.
